Hayes Care Home Celebrates National Care Home Open DayAs part of the 7th annual Care Home Open Day, HC-One’s Aston House Care Home opened its doors to the community to take part in creative celebrations. The home proudly welcomed the Deputy Mayor of Hillingdon, Teji Barnes, as well as HC-One’s CEO Justin Hutchens and his son, Porter.

Care Home Open Day is a national event that gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the care services at the heart of their community. It focusses on bringing those who live locally into care homes to break down misconceptions, showcase what life is really like in a care home, and to highlight the skills and dedication of local people working as carers. The aspiration of everyone having a better understanding how kind care is delivered.

This year’s theme was ‘Celebrating Art in Care,’ with HC-One launching a national Art Competition to encourage Residents, their loved ones, Colleagues and neighbours to unleash their creativity and design their own masterpiece. Participants could create anything from paintings, drawings, knitting, poetry, calligraphy and pottery – the choices were endless and allowed all talents to be showed-off.

In support of the arts, Aston House hosted a ‘yellow themed’ garden party in the sunshine, as they got into the spirit of Summer. The event included live entertainment from the ‘Swing Time Sweethearts’ who visited the home to perform some well-known tunes for everyone to enjoy. Residents and their Relatives also got creative as they took part in arts and craft activities in between the entertainment.

Refreshments were available for all to enjoy throughout the day, consisting of various drinks alongside a home-made buffet, and an ice cream van for those who preferred a sweeter treat.

Seema Jose, Home Manager, commented: “I am very proud of my team for all the hard work in preparations for Open Day as well as going that extra mile on the actual day. It’s wonderful that Colleagues display such kindness at the heart of everything they do!”

Colleagues worked hard to ensure the day was a success, and a wonderful time was had by all.
