Hawaiian fun day as Brompton House celebrates Care Home Open DayHC-One’s Brompton House care home in Broadway was delighted to welcome members of the local community to its Hawaiian-themed party as Colleagues and Residents joined together to celebrate the seventh annual Care Home Open Day.

The nation-wide event gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the care services at the heart of their community. It focusses on bringing those who live locally into care homes to break down misconceptions, showcase what life is really like in a care home, and to highlight the skills and dedication of local people working as carers.

This year’s theme was ‘Celebrating Art in Care’, with HC-One launching a national art competition for Residents and visitors to the home. Participants could create anything from paintings, drawings, knitting, poetry, calligraphy, pottery and more.

Residents and their loved ones participated in some exciting activities during the event, including Hawaiian-themed fancy dress, a buffet of exotic treats, a performance from a ukulele band and a raffle, which raised a fantastic £66 for the Residents’ fund.

Guests were also delighted to meet the home’s new arrivals; a group of chicks which were born in the home this spring.

Zoe Miller, Home Manager at Brompton House, said: “We were delighted to welcome the local community to celebrate our Care Home Open Day along with our Residents’ loved ones. Everyone had a fantastic day and the Hawaiian twist certainly put a smile on everyone’s faces.”
