Hat Day is a fundraising success for Silverwood care homeHC-One’s Silverwood care home in Rotherham showed its support to Brain Tumour Research by raising a fantastic £80 during the charity’s fundraising event, Wear a Hat Day.

The event is the UK’s biggest brain tumour research fundraising event, with thousands of people across the UK getting involved each year. Wear a Hat Day has raised more than £1million since its launch ten years ago, and the hats raise awareness for brain tumours, which are sometimes considered an invisible disease.

Staff all contributed to the cause by wearing their favourite hat for the day, while donating money to the charity.

While some opted for a more conventional choice, such as a police hat and a top hat, some staff members chose a more unique style, such as Diane’s monster hat.

The home also organised a raffle, which further contributed to the money raised for Brain Tumour Research.

Residents at the home particularly enjoyed the event, as they had a laugh at the team’s choice of hats.

Carrie Ann Davies, Home Manager at Silverwood, said: “At HC-One, we are dedicated to fundraising for both local and national charities as much as we can. Wear a Hat Day was not only a great talking point amongst our Residents, but it is a fantastic initiative that raises awareness of an illness that affects so many people. We are delighted to have raised such a great amount for a fantastic cause.”
