On 1st April at
Primrose House care home, which offers dementia care in Crewe, spring has truly arrived as Colleagues worked together to host an Easter egg hunt for the local school children, much to the Residents’ delight.
Wellbeing Coordinator Pauline Roberts and Carer Michelle Bright, dressed as the Easter Bunny and Easter chicken, then 52 pupils and their parents from Haslington Primary school were tasked in finding a picture of an egg in the home’s garden. The picture would then claim a goodie bag prize, which consisted of an Easter egg, sweeties, a bunny, colouring book and pencils.
Home Manager, Dawn Sadler, helped to distribute the goodie bags with Volunteer, Valerie Wilson, whilst mocktails were served for the parents and Residents.
Building up relationships in the local community is something very close to the heart of everyone at Primrose House, so the home also hosted an outdoor Easter raffle for passers-by, to be in with the chance of winning some amazing Easter prizes. This also helped raise money for the Residents fund; £53 in total was raised from the day which will be put towards a snow machine for Christmas.
Home Administrator, Kate Wheatley, said, “The Residents enjoyed the children waving at them whilst they were doing the egg hunt. They were all sat around the window in the lounge, waving and shouting ‘hello’.”
Eileen Bearpark, who lives at Primrose House, remarked, “It was lovely waving at the children.”
Dawn added, “What a fantastic afternoon the local children had hunting for Easter eggs as they broke up from school for Easter and waving at the Residents through the lounge windows. The Residents had a wonderful afternoon watching the children.”
“The community spirit in Haslington is wonderful. The families always come and take part in everything we do.”
This is the second event the home has hosted for the local school children, which was very well supported. The home will be having a summer garden fair on 1st July and are hoping it will be supported well again by the local schools and families.
