Hamilton care home remembers fallen heroes on Remembrance DayResidents and team members at HC-One’s Douglas View care home in Hamilton paid their respects to fallen heroes on Remembrance Day on Monday 11th November.

Remembrance Day is observed by members of the Commonwealth of Nations to remember members of the military and armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

J Howett, a Resident at Douglas View and war veteran recited the poem, ‘Lest We Forget’ whilst wearing his medals for fellow Residents and members of team followed by Care Assistant, Alexander Mair who is also a veteran, reciting ‘In The Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae.

One Resident commented: “This was a lovely way to reflect on the past and honour those who gave their life for this country.”

Lyndsey Barnes, Douglas View Home Manager said: “We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who joined us in remembering the selfless sacrifice of our fallen heroes.

“Some of our Residents have lost loved ones during different conflicts so it was a cathartic experience for them to remember and pay their respects.”
