Hamilton care home commemorate war heroes in Remembrance ServiceResidents and the team at HC-One’s Douglas View Care Home in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, pay their respects to the war heroes who served in World War I, to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the war.

The 2 Scots Royal Regiment escorted Residents to the 100th anniversary of Remembrance Sunday at the Hamilton West Parish Church.

Soldier Greg Ritchie helped 103 year old Isobel McIlree to lay a wreathe at the ceremony, which she was overwhelmed with the opportunity to do so.

The soldiers were very kind and considerate and were honoured to hear the Residents own stories of the war.

Resident Isabelle McIlree commented:

“I felt really honoured to be asked to lay the wreathe at the church.”

Katy Jenks, Home Manager at Douglas View, commented:

“What an emotional day, for all of us.

Thank you so much to The 2 Scots Royal Regiment for escorting us to the Hamilton West Parish Church and for spending the day with our Residents.”
