Bella, a Resident at
Hamewith Lodge in Aberdeen, which offers celebrated her 99th birthday on Sunday the 3rd of October.
Born in 1922, just after the First World War, Bella has lived through many historical events including the invention of the television (1927) being a young adult during the Second World War (1939-1945) and mankind achieving space travel (1961).
During Bella’s life, there have been four British Monarchs, twenty-five UK Prime Ministers and seventeen US Presidents to date.
When asked what the recipe to a long life is, Bella’s daughter Diane commented, “She has always been a hard-working woman, in her later years she played bowls, walked and had an active role in the lives of her grandchildren and in local community activities she was accomplished in and loved knitting and sewing. My mam and dad also enjoyed travelling during their retirement years and despite much personal family loss, she coped remarkably well”.
As a woman with so many years of life experience, Bella stated that success can be achieved through “hard work”.
It was a lovely day for Bella as she got to celebrate her birthday with the family and the care home.
Diana Toneva, Care Home Manager, remarked, “I am so happy for Bella and her family, and are so pleased to have Bella live with us, her years of life experience serve a lovely purpose”.
