Haggis, neeps and tatties all round as Belper care home celebrates Burns NightResidents at Bankwood care home in Duffield, Belper enjoyed a day filled with Scottish traditions as they celebrated Burns Night 2020.

Held on 25th January each year, Burns Night commemorates the life of famous poet, Robert Burns, who greatly contributed to Scottish culture.

Colleagues decorated communal areas in Bankwood with tartan, as a symbol of Scottish culture.

As they enjoyed a traditional Scottish meal of haggis, neeps and tatties, washed down with a glass of Irn Bru, Residents clapped and danced along to music played on the bagpipes.

The meal was rounded off with a delicious dessert, which included some shortbread that Residents had baked especially for the event.

One Resident commented: “I really enjoyed the Scottish meal, especially the Irn Bru. I haven’t had that drink in a long time!”
