Guisborough care home celebrates Burns Night with traditional Scottish celebrationsResidents at Park House care home in Guisborough enjoyed a host of Scottish celebratory activities for Burns Night.

The celebrations began with entertainment from Scottish piper, Ian McWilliam, who piped in the haggis while dressed in traditional attire. He also played songs such as Amazing Grace and the Skye Boat song, while everyone raised a glass of whisky to toast Robert Burns.

Robert Burns’ poetry was then read throughout the night, followed by a Scottish singalong with Janie St John.

The celebrations finished with Residents enjoying tea and coffee, served alongside some Highland shortbread.

One Resident commented: “I had a fantastic time celebrating Burns Night. I even enjoyed the haggis!”

Julie Woods, Home Manager at Park House, said: “Everyone really enjoyed the traditional Scottish entertainment we had to mark Burns Night. Some of our Residents have Scottish roots, so it was really nice to be able to celebrate and learn about the Scottish culture together.”
