Growing greens on the doorstep at Westwood LodgeWestwood Lodge care home have been experimenting with their outdoor gardens and have created a sustainable food source that has been adding flavour to dishes in the dining room.

Maintenance Operative, Tom, has been working very hard on developing Westwood Lodge garden for the Residents and to utilise the space. He therefore came up with the idea to plant something else in the garden other than just the pretty flowers. Now you will find a growing range of herbs, spices and vegetables which have been developing over the last few weeks and turned out amazing!

The chef at Westwood Lodge has even been using the herbs to cook delicious recipes for the Residents to add that kick of extra flavour.

Everyone has enjoyed admiring, tasting and in fact smelling the fresh herbs the most, Resident Alice Priestley stated, “This is an amazing idea from Tom, I used to always use herbs when I used to cook, and they add so much flavour to the food.”
