Growing friendships and person-centred activities at Tameside care homeThere has been some very happy moments recently at Fir Trees care home, with some quality one to one time as well as friendships being made.

One to one time is so important for Residents at HC-One care homes, and that’s exactly what Colleagues do at Fir Trees, in Dukinfield, Tameside. Eric, who lives at the 44-bed residential and residential dementia care home, has recently enjoyed spending some time with Wellbeing Coordinator Karolina Kubach.

The pair wen to the quiet lounge and had a walk around the room together while listened to some music and dancing. They also played indoor bowling some throwing and catching games. They also sat down for a brew and a chat.

Eric really enjoyed himself, participating and joining in with the games. He said, “I’ve had a great day!”

Nicole Gunning, Care Home Manager, commented, “It’s nice to see Eric doing loads of activities with Karolina.  One to one time usually helps Residents to be calm and relaxed. It definitely boosts their mood too.”

Following on, even more great things have been happening at Fir Trees this month with a new friendship blooming.

Bill, who lives at the home, loves to sit and chat to Residents and he has recently made a new friend when new Resident John joined the Fir Trees family.

The pair started chatting recently and got on well straight away. Now, they always sit next to each other and make each other laugh. Both Residents enjoy each other’s’ company and they love a good chit chat.

Bill remarked, “I’m so happy that John moved in here. He makes a great friend.”

John added, “I like Bill, he is my friend and (I) enjoy chatting to him.”

Karolina said, “It’s so important to have friends in your life no matter what age you are. Having someone by your side makes you feel happier. It so lovely to see Bill’s face, so happy! I’m so glad that John found a friend for life, like he says.”
