Residents at HC-One’s Clarendon Hall care home in Humberston, Lincolnshire are sending off a beautiful homemade wreath calendar to schoolchildren all the way in France.
Back in December, the Residents at the home each received a Christmas card written to them personally by the children.
Now, the Residents are sending their thanks in response.
Hayley, a Wellbeing Coordinator at the home, made the wreath using ribbons, a symbol of their friendship with their new pen pals in France.
She said: “It has been lovely to go round everyone and make something that is from us all.”
Each Resident chose a ribbon in a colour or material that has a personal meaning for them.
Residents have also written a short message with an explanation of what their ribbon represents. This has been fixed to the wreath with their name and photo so that the children can put faces to their names now.
A Resident at the home explained: “I picked stars because it’s the last thing I see before I go to sleep at night.”
The beautiful wreath will be sent off today, along with a card and photos of some of the Residents.
Clarendon Hall Administrator, Stephanie, said: “We hope it will be the start of a long term link with the school which will result in frequent communications with them.”
