Grimsby care home create thank-you octopus!Grimsby care home create thank-you octopus!

Colleagues and Residents helped to create a mascot for the home to say thank-you to key workers for everything they do throughout the pandemic.

The Residents really wanted a way of saying thank-you to key workers that still come to the Grimsby home such as district nurses, refuge collectors, delivery drivers, postal workers and paper boys and girls!

Activity coordinator Hayley designed up an octopus with the Residents, made out of recycled goods including bubble wrap, old tablecloths, milk bottle lids, scourers and old branches.

All of these bits were used to create the octopus, who is now proudly on display in the car park for all to see when they arrive at the home.

Residents can also see the octopus from their window. They are very proud of their creation and have even named him Fred!

One Resident, Edna, commented “we never thought we could pull it off, but it looks amazing!”

Home administrator Stephanie said “what a wonderful way to brighten everyone’s day, it really shows everyone how much we appreciate their hard work”.
