Merino Court Care Home in Greenock, Inverclyde, was visited on 5th December by Professor Alex McMahon, Chief Nursing Officer for Scotland alongside Arelene Mailey, Service Manager for Quality and Development at Inverclyde HSCP and Laura Moore, Chief Nurse at Inverclyde HSCP.
Residents and colleagues of the HC-One owned care home enjoyed meeting Professor McMahon, Arelene and Laura, and chatting to them about what life is like at Merino Court – which is an integral part of the local Greenock community.
The visit was hosted by HC-One’s Director of Nursing, Liz Richards who provided a tour to Professor Alex McMahon, Arelene Mailey and Laura Moore of the 60 bedded care home which offers nursing and nursing dementia care. The visit was also an opportunity for them to speak to Professor McMahon about HC-One Scotland’s wider work, and key issues in the sector including recruitment and retention, and the importance of the nursing workforce.
Professor Alex McMahon, Chief Nursing Officer for Scotland commented:
“Can I say thank you to Liz and the team for helping to organise my visit to Merino Court. I was not only made very welcome but learned a lot about the work of HC-One across Scotland and indeed the UK. It was a pleasure to walk around the home and to speak to some of the staff and residents.
“I hope the link that has now been made with the Chief Nurse for Inverclyde will not only serve well in terms of Merino Court, but also the wider connections you can make through Laura and the other Chief Nurses in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.”
