Grampian Court introduce monthly themed evening mealsResidents from HC-One’s Grampian Court in Peterlee, County Durham, enjoyed a Chinese themed evening meal as part of their first monthly themed tea.

This month the theme was a Chinese tea, so each dining room was decorated with banners and bunting, cut-outs, flags and hanging decorations.

Everyone was given a choice of three Chinese dishes – chicken curry, sweet and sour pork and turkey stir fry. To accompany their meal there was also a selection of chips, vegetable spring rolls and prawn crackers available on each table, and an assortment of sandwiches for those who didn’t want Chinese.

After the meal, staff and Residents enjoyed looking at the Chinese calendar to see which animal they were according to their birthday, before reading out their attributes.

Residents had a great evening and were thrilled to be having something different as well as being able to try the different dishes before they made their choice, commenting:

“This reminds me of being at home when we used to order a Chinese takeaway.”

Grampian Court’s Home Manager, Judith Tully commented:

“The decorations in the dining room helped our Residents to get the feel of the Orient as they enjoyed a variety of dishes for their evening meal. Our kitchen staff have worked hard to create a Chinese menu that contained a variety of dishes and sides.”
