Glenrothes care home hosts creative Christmas competition for local childrenHC-One’s Lomond Court care home, on Woodside Way in Glenrothes hosted a creative competition for local school children this festive season, with an environmentally friendly theme.

Lomond Court has strong community links and is proud to work closely with all the schools in the local area, so the team decided to showcase the talents of the students of Glenrothes with a seasonal competition with an environmentally friendly twist.

Pupils were asked to design an outdoor Christmas ornament or decoration, made solely from recycled materials. The children got straight to work, coming up with their own unique designs, some decided to do some further research and create ornaments that promote positive wellbeing and reminiscence for people living with dementia.

All of the creations were displayed in The Kingdom shopping centre in early December and the public voted on which was their favourite piece. All the votes were counted by the Residents at Lomond Court and the winner was announced at a small awards ceremony.

Each school received a special trophy, including the winners Glennwood and Auchmuty high schools. Residents at the home complimented the pupils on their wonderful designs and wished them all a very Merry Christmas.

Beba Graham, Lomond Court Home Manager said: “This was a wonderful community project that brought so much joy and festive cheer to our Residents, the pupils and the wider local community.

“Thank you to all of the children who took part and created such beautiful designs for the project.”
