Glasgow care home Resident turns 103A Resident at HC-One’s Quayside care home in Glasgow recently celebrated her 103rd birthday in style, despite coronavirus restrictions.

Quayside Resident, Rachel Gorman turned 103 on 8th October, and Colleagues at the home made sure she still had the best possible day, despite current circumstances.

As a young woman Rachel was moved from her home in Glasgow to Aberdeenshire, where she worked with the Forestry Commission, cutting down trees for the war effort, and still likes to chat about her memories from that time.

During the early afternoon, tea, birthday cake, prosecco and wine were enjoyed by all, with some of Rachel’s favourite music being played, including traditional Scottish music, wartime classics and some of her favourites by Frank Sinatra.

Colleague’s presented Rachel with flowers, sweets and a cake and made the day special for Rachel who sported a tiara for the occasion. Rachel really enjoyed singing along to the music and enjoyed being spoiled by the staff.

Quayside Home Manager, Liz Campbell said: “We try to make every Resident feel special every day but today is extraordinary and extra special for Rachel.”
