Glamorous Supergran celebrates 100th birthday‘Supergran’ Lisbeth Swan, a Resident at Linlithgow celebrated her 100th birthday this week, surrounded by her family and friends.

Lisbeth, originally from Greenock, made Linlithgow her home 40 years ago. Aside from her family, her main passion was golf which, having started at the age of 14, she played well into her 90’s, also helping to teach and inspire youngsters at the local club. Throughout her life her moto has been “life’s a game, but golf is serious”, which she proved whenever picking out a car – the boot had to be big enough to fit her clubs in!

Lisbeth has had a full and busy life, taking part in competitive bridge, yoga, bowls, country dancing, WI and church and coffee mornings. It is therefore no wonder that she was known affectionately as Supergran by her loved ones, especially because of her legendary lentil soup and paradise slice.

Life certainly didn’t slow down for Lisbeth, who was tickled pink to get a hole in one in her 60’s, rode a Flying Fox in her 70’s and even helped out with Meals on Wheels in her 80’s.

She spent the day surrounded by her family and friends who all raised a toast to her with a wee glass of champagne. She also had a special visit from the Lord Lieutenant and Provost Tom Kerr.

When asked how she has reached 100, Lisbeth commented:

“I do a crossword puzzle every day and have everything in moderation and not TOO much tonic in it!”

Happy Birthday to an amazing woman and congratulations!
