Residents received a lovely unexpected gift this Christmas at HC-One’s White Gables care home in Skellingthorpe, Lincoln.
A Resident’s family member, Richard Shaw, organised a gift collection and asked members of the community if they would kindly donated presents to the home.
The response from those in Skellingthorpe was extraordinary and meant that Residents who don’t have family members were able to open an extra gift on Christmas morning.
The collection was a thoughtful idea that came after a difficult year, with many Residents unable to see family members due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The gifts, together with the presents provided by the home and Colleagues, meant that each Resident had plenty of lovely presents to open on the big day.
White Gables Home Manager, Catherine Mitchell, said: “I still get blown away by the kindness of strangers sometimes.
“It goes to prove that community spirit lives on and that we can all pull together in challenging and difficult times like these.”
