Michael Measham, a Resident at Willow Brook care home in Carlton, Nottingham, was delighted to receive a Highly Commended award for his efforts in the HC-One gardening competition.
The competition recognised the talents of green-fingered Residents across the company’s 329 care homes.
While Willow Brook hosted an exciting afternoon of entertainment for Residents and their loved ones to enjoy, Michael was surprised to receive a giant cheque for the £25 cash prize, along with some thoughtful gifts and his personalised certificate.
After receiving his certificate, Michael re-joined his fellow Residents for an afternoon of magic performed by David Fox, a talented magician. Everyone really enjoyed the tricks, with many getting involved as they watched the magic in awe.
A keen gardener, Michael was delighted to be rewarded for his efforts as he looks forward to continuing his passion for gardening next summer.
Michael said: “I can’t believe I got a highly commended award for my gardening, I’m really happy and it was such a surprise."
