Gardening club gets crafty at Bridgend care homeArts and crafts was the main theme for the gardening club at Glanffrwd care home in Bridgend this week, as Residents joined together to make some beautiful bird feeders and wind chimes.

Residents decided to add a splash of colour to the garden by decorating some new wind chimes and bird feeders to hang in the trees.

The green-fingered Residents got to work painting the decorations, adding in their own designs, with many commenting on how therapeutic the session was.

The crafts session follows on from Residents arranging some beautiful hanging baskets earlier in the week, with everyone helping to choose which flowers to plant and picking a special place to hang the baskets in the garden.

Ann, a Resident at Glanffrwd, said: “I really enjoy painting. It helps me to relax.”

Shirley added: “I’ve loved every second. Gardening has always been my favourite hobby.”

Rachel Morgan, Wellbeing Coordinator, said: “Our Residents really enjoy looking out for all the different birds visiting our garden, so they were really excited to make the bird feeders that will hopefully attract more special guests to the garden.

“It was lovely to see Residents joining together to make the new decorations and adding their own personal touch.”
