HC-One’s Worsley Lodge Care Home in Worsley, Manchester, was the setting for a very special reunion for one resident, as she met up with three family members of different generations, after many years apart.
On 2nd November Marjorie, who lives at Worsley Lodge, was delighted with a surprise visit from her granddaughter and great-grandson, who had travelled more than 5,000 miles from Los Angeles, after her daughter had organised a family reunion.
Rebecca, Marjorie's daughter, planned for the family to reunite at Worsley Lodge care home, after it had been a fair few years since the three were together.
Granddaughter Hannah had previously moved to LA, as that is where she met her husband, who is an American Call Pastor for his local church. Hannah was so excited for her grandma to have the pleasure of meeting her great-grandson, Asaph, who is 11 months old. Marjorie had heard so much about Asaph but was yet to meet him.
The reunion did not disappoint, and Marjorie was so surprised, she had absolutely no idea! The four generations spent hours catching up; Hannah was telling Marjorie that Asaph’s name has been taken from the bible, much to Marjorie’s interest and they sat having cuddles, and catching up.
The four generations’ ages total a staggering 197 years young!
During their visit they sat in Marjorie’s room chatting over tea and were pleased to take some photos of the visit, to look back on with such fond memories. Colleagues took the pictures and have displayed them up in Marjorie's room at the care home, for her to be able to look at all the time. They also made copies for Marjorie, Rebecca, and Hannah for her to take home to LA.
Marjorie loved spending quality time with her family, she commented:
“It was a fantastic surprise! Absolutely fantastic to be able to see my family from LA.”
Angie McGinty, Wellbeing Coordinator at Worsley Lodge care home, said:
“This was a lovely family reunion and amazing to see four generations getting together. Marjorie still has the biggest smile we have ever seen every time she looks at her pictures or talks about the visit.”
