Former REME receives special gift Thomas Forrest a Resident at HC-One’s Brandon House in Coventry received a special gift from Wellbeing Co-ordinator, Simon.

Thomas joined the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) as an engineer in 1951 at the age of 18.

During his three year service, he was stationed in Germany, Yugoslavia and Italy. Thomas was also awarded medals for his participation in King George VI’s funeral parade in 1952 and Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953.

Brandon House Wellbeing Co-ordinator Simon was touched after hearing about Thomas’ service to our country and decided to bring him his very own regimental flag as a reminder of his service.

Thomas was overwhelmed by Simon’s kind gesture, it brought a tear to his eye as he reminisced about some of his happy and sad memories of his service. The flag is now hanging proudly in Thomas’ room at Brandon House.
