Tom Ward, a former nurse and now Resident of HC-One’s Lothian House care home in Spennymoor has proudly become the home’s Infection Control Champion.
Throughout his thirty years as a nurse Tom held a variety of positions in the health and social care sector working in both Sedgefield and Iran. The team at Lothian House thought Tom would be the perfect candidate to be the Residents Champion for infection control, Tom was very excited to be offered the opportunity and offered to hold a talk for all of the staff at Lothian House about diabetes and skin integrity.
Team members visited the care home on their day off to attend Tom’s talk which everyone found very informative and engaging. Tom commented: “I am looking forward to be being the Infection Control Champion and keeping my eye on the staff to make sure everything is cleaned correctly.”
Lothian House Home Manager, Jill Morton-Carr said: “Tom has a wealth of knowledge and I am so pleased he is happy to share his expertise with our team and I hope he enjoys his new role as our Infection Control Champion.”
