Forest fan, 101, set to enjoy VIP treatment at first game in 30 years

Marjorie, known as ‘Marj’, Graves, a 101-year-old resident at HC-One’s Fairway View Care Home is set to have the time of her life as she is set to attend her first Nottingham Forest match for the first time in over three decades.

Marj, from Bulwell, has been a Reds supporter since she was eight-years-old and she has followed the team but not been able to get to a game for a long time. Fairway View Care Home shared Marj’s delightful story of fandom on Facebook, tagging Nottingham Forest, which led the club to reach out with an incredible offer.

They have provided Marj with a private box, four tickets, and VIP treatment for the highly anticipated Forest v Leicester match on Sunday, May 11, 2025. Marj's love affair with Nottingham Forest began 93 years ago when she attended her first match with her father at the age of 8 in 1931.

Since then, she has remained a steadfast supporter, following every game on the radio and television. Her passion, passed down through generations, caught the attention of the club after her story was shared widely on social media.

Marj Graves, HC-One’s Fairway View resident, said:

"I'm so excited to watch Forest. I love the crowd when they sing Mull of Kintyre. That's my favourite.

“I have lived on my own for over 30 years, and coming to Fairway View was the best decision I've made. The staff are so good to me, and I finally feel like I have a family.”

Melanie Hayes, HC-One’s Fairway View Care Home Manager, stated:

“I'm so happy for Marj that she gets to live out her dream of seeing her beloved team play in person. I'm very proud of my team for making this happen. Nottingham Forest have been absolutely amazing. Marj is going to have the time of her life.”

Heidi Duffy, HC-One’s Fairway View Lifestyle Manager, commented:

“I was thrilled to be able to make Marj's dream come true, she is such an amazing lady. It really is the best part of my job!”

A Nottingham Forest spokesperson said:

“We’re delighted that Marj is joining us for the Leicester City match 93 years on from her first visit to the City Ground. The Forest Family is incredibly important to us.

“We hope that Marj and her family have a wonderful time, and we will do all we can to ensure it’s a day that will live long in their memories.”
