Residents at
Fleming Court, residential and residential dementia care home, in Jesmond, Newcastle, enjoyed a night of horse racing and pie and pea supper.
On the 12th of May, Residents, families and friends joined in with a evening of horse racing using the virtual system, called RITA.
There was a great number of attendees and there will be nights like this one hosted on a monthly basis for Relatives to attend. There were lots of races where Residents were able to choose a horse and watch the race take place.
One Resident chose a horse called ‘Perfect Peter’ who unfortunately was not perfect and lost the race!
Everyone enjoyed a supper of pie, peas and gravy and washed it down with a soft drink or a small tipple.
Residents Sheila and Patricia, both won an equal amount of racing by choosing the winning horses and were awarded prizes at the end of the evening. Sheila, said, “I can’t believe I keep winning this is great!”
Lisa Wood, Wellbeing Coordinator, remarked, “This is my first evening of this time and also my first month working here at Fleming Court, I am so pleased with how well it went.”
Next month a quiz night has been planned where Residents will be able to make their own pizzas!
