The catering team at
HC-One’s Finavon Court Care Home in Forfar have been shortlisted as finalists in the Catering Team of the Year Award Category at the Caring UK Awards 2023.
The awards ceremony, where the winner will be announced, is due to take place on Thursday 7th December 2023 at the Athena in Leicester.
The team have been recognised after developing specialised dishes including textured foods for residents at the care home. This has enabled the catering team to offer a wide and delicious range of meals for all residents, whatever their personal tastes and dietary and nutritional requirements.
The work has been led by Finavon Court Care Home’s Head Chef, Gareth McClements, who implemented the new diets after attending a training course that focused on quality improvement and textured meals.
The catering team used this information, along with their existing expertise, to create a variety of textured meals, which have been very well received by Finavon Court residents and their relatives alike.
Finavon Court resident Neil said:
“The food is brilliant. I think they should win as the food is so good and I have definitely put on a few pounds!”
Another resident, Sheila, said:
“The food is really good; I get a choice and my favourite is their macaroni cheese with garlic bread. The staff doing the cooking are so funny, their jokes are pretty good as well!”
Commenting on their award shortlisting, Gareth McClements said:
“We are very proud to have been shortlisted as finalists for this award. It is a mark of the hard work the team has put in and the excellent results they have delivered. We are also very pleased to hear how popular our dishes are with the residents.”
