Nicola Howarth, Chef, at HC-One’s
Tenlands care home in Ferryhill, County Durham, a 39-bed residential and residential dementia care home, has been shortlisted for The Care Home Cook/Chef Award Category at the Great British Care Awards 2022 for the North East region.
The nomination for the award is in recognition of her hard work and kind care shown to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues as well as the dedication and passion Nicola shows every day to ensure the people she supports receive the best quality care.
As a Chef at Tenlands Care Home, Nicola has dedicated 15 years to keeping the Residents of Tenlands Care Home healthy and happy with her beautifully presented and nutritious food. Her first and last priority has always been the Residents, whether it is adapting meals to fit strict dietary requirements or knocking up a quick tasty snack for one of their grandchildren who is peckish during a visit. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Nicola, she is always going the extra mile for Residents and takes huge pride in what she does.
General Site Manager, Jill Carr, who nominated Nicola for the award, said:
“I am so proud that Nicola has been nominated for this award and shortlisted as a finalist. Nicola puts her heart and soul to ensure that our Residents receive good quality foods, snacks and drinks.”
The Great British Care Awards consist of 21 awards, which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of distinction across the care sector. The awards pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their area of work. The award ceremony of the Great British Care Awards 2022, Regional Awards for the North East region takes place at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, in Newcastle on Thursday 10th November 2022 when the winners will be announced. Successful winners at the North East regional awards will progress to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards 2023 taking place on Friday 17th March 2023 at the ICC in Birmingham.
