Ferryhill Care Home receives an ‘Outstanding’ rating in CQC ReportHC-One’s Tenlands Care Home in Ferryhill, County Durham is celebrating having received a glowing report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The team at Tenlands were delighted to have received an impressive CQC report that rated the home as ‘Outstanding’ overall, demonstrating that the home is providing exceptionally high standards of care for its Residents. This result was achieved through two ‘Outstanding’ ratings for being a responsive and well-led service, and ‘Good’ ratings in the remaining three categories, meaning the service is safe, effective and caring, too.

The inspectors were full of praise for colleagues at Tenlands, highlighting the day-to-day kindness and compassion they provide to Residents at the home. This sentiment was echoed by Residents, who made remarks such as “I’m happy, safe, to be honest everything is great,” “The nurses are brilliant, the best around here,” and “I am so happy to be here, everyone is so helpful.”

Everybody at Tenlands is aided in leading a full and active life, taking regular trips to the beach, countryside, and local cafes. The home reaches into ancient practices as well as new technologies to keep Residents entertained; for example, it engages a reiki healer as part of the activity programme, alongside providing virtual headsets which enable Residents to tour local towns and the countryside from the comfort of their own home.

The home also received regular correspondence of thanks from Residents’ loved ones, with two relatives coming in on the day of the inspection specifically to speak to the CQC and sing Tenlands’ praises. One of them stated “this is a superior home, intimate and considerate at all times”, while another relative told the inspectors “the staff cared for my relative exactly as they would have wanted”.

HC-One Tenlands Care Home Manager, Victoria Leighton, said:
