Ferryhill care home host harvest festival celebrationsResidents and the team at HC-One’s Tenlands Care Home in Ferryhill opened the doors to the local community last week for their harvest festival.

The harvest festival began with a cake sale and a tombola at 10am before Margaret Berry, a Resident’s wife, who works for the Salvation Army offered to carry out the service for the home, which everyone really enjoyed.

Town Mayor David Farry and Deputy Mayor Jacqueline Casella attended the event and spent time speaking to all of the Residents throughout the day. Andrea Goldie from Age UK also attended as well as Janet from Ferryhill Food Bank who happily received the harvest donation.

Asda generously donated a harvest cake and chocolate hamper, which went down a treat with everyone who attended.

Volunteers Christine Varty and Margaret Berriman kindly helped out throughout the day and Margaret also donated a fruit hamper for the harvest festival.

In total, an incredible £250 was raised towards the Resident’s comfort fund.

Tenlands Home Manager, Victoria Leighton commented:

“It was lovely to see the whole of the local community coming together to celebrate another successful harvest festival here at Tenlands.”
