Family reunited for Christmas at Wigan care homeA Christmas wish came true for Winnie Cave, 78-year-old Resident at HC-One’s Westwood Lodge in Wigan when she able to enjoy a Christmas meal with her mother, Nellie Page, aged 102.

Winnie and Nellie had not seen each other for over two years after both of their health’s deteriorated and they moved into separate care homes. Over a year ago, when Winnie moved into Westwood Lodge Wellbeing Coordinator, Chloe Webb organised regular visits to Woodlands Court, a fellow local care home, so that mother and daughter could be reunited.

The kind teams at Westwood Lodge and Woodlands Court made both ladies wishes come to life when they jointly organised a special Christmas meal for Winnie and Nellie at Westwood Lodge.

The Chefs prepared a delicious home cooked Christmas dinner and the ladies were joined by their family members. Everyone was overjoyed to see the pair enjoying a Christmas together like they have for so many years before.

Winnie Cave commented:

“I would like to thank you all for organising this, it means so much to both of us.”

Jane Davies, Home Manager at Westwood Lodge said:

“Seeing the smiles on Winnie’s and Nellie’s faces was such a heart-warming and special moment for all of us.

“Thank you to everyone who helped organise this wonderful day, you made two lovely ladies Christmas wish come true.”
