Falkirk care home knitting group supports local neo-natal unitResidents at HC-One’s Barleystone care home in Falkirk have been busy knitting cannula sleeves for the neo-natal unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

After noticing an appeal for cannula sleeves for the Neo-Natal Unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Barleystone Wellbeing Coordinator, Morag, spoke with the home’s knit and natter group about using their fortnightly sessions to create some beautiful cannula sleeves for the hospital.

Residents were very excited to help such a worthwhile cause and got straight to work knitting, with Morag lending a helping hand in her spare time. The group are currently working towards filling a box with cannula sleeves which they can donate to the neo-natal unit, helping to keep premature babies from accidentally pulling out their drips or tubes.

Barleystone Home Manager, Karen Syme said: “This is such a wonderful project, the ladies are enjoying working on the cannula sleeves and it means so much more knowing that their hard work will help premature babies.”
