Exercise class gets everyone active at Harnham CroftFun-filled exercise classes are now a regular weekly activity for Residents at HC-One’s Salisbury care home, Harnham Croft, and people at the home have been benefitting from increased physical activity and having a great laugh while doing so too!

Annabelle Hepburn, who has been a qualified physiotherapist since 1996, works with Salisbury and South Wilts Physiotherapy. She visits Harnham Croft every week and enjoys getting Residents involved and motivated in the weekly Thursday sessions, which often involve therabands, a giant exercise ball and parachute games. The classes are also complete with some general stretching exercises to get the body moving.

Residents at the home, including June, Robert, Sandy, Alison, Linda, Gill, Eric, Charles, Lynn and Barbara, enjoy stretching and exercising to the music of their choice.

Annabelle finishes the session with some calming relaxation breathing exercises.

Lynn, who lives at the 38-bed residential and nursing care home, said, “I love the exercises classes with Annabelle. I get to listen to some of my favourite music whilst getting moving and doing some exercises using muscles I forgot about! Absolutely great!”

The Residents like that Annabelle will take any and all requests and adapt these into the session. She also schedules in regular breaks for Residents and always adheres to their interest and abilities

Barbara, who is also a Resident, said, “I really enjoy our weekly physiotherapy exercise class. It helps me to keep moving, I can do as much or as little as I want. Annabelle is great and helps me a lot.

Jim Bowie, Home Manager, remarked, “Annabelle works great with each and every Resident that chooses to join in with the group exercise class. It’s lovely to see all the Residents, every Thursday afternoon, in the lounge getting involved and enjoying the exercise.”
