Olga Jankovska, a nursing assistant at HC-One’s Riverside View Care Home in Dundee, has been selected as a finalist for Carer of the Year at the National Care Awards.
The National Care Awards is the longest established annual awards for the health and social care sector, and is organised by leading publication, Caring Times. The awards were devised to celebrate the very best people in the long-term care sector, highlighting excellence and rewarding those who work tirelessly to provide consistently outstanding care.
Olga joined HC-One three years ago following her time as a Health Care Assistant. She manages the dementia unit of the home, co-ordinating care for Residents with dementia, ensuring they received person-centred care and safeguarding both their wellbeing and the safety of colleagues supporting them.
Olga was recommended for the award by staff, visitors and relatives with loved ones at the home, for her dedication to providing the kindest care. One family said that “Olga is an essential part in supporting my father’s needs and always goes the extra mile and more. She is a wonderful person and it is a pleasure to know that she is on duty.” Another loved one of a Resident was keen to say that “Olga is exceptional and deserves to be recognised in these awards as a carer who goes above and beyond excellence, and I appreciate this so much.”
Following her selection, Olga will be interviewed by a panel of judges, ready to her the results at a black-tie presentation dinner on the 24
th November. The awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton London Metropole and hosted by comedian David Baddiel.
