At
Worsley Lodge residential care home, in Manchester, Residents have been overjoyed with a donation of dolls and accessories from local community groups.
Jeanette and Lesley, who are part of the Dancing with Dementia Team, is always supporting care homes, called in to drop more baby dolls off for Residents, after hearing they have made a massive impact to the Residents’ wellbeing and quality of life.
The home has had Moses baskets, buggies and baby carriers donated by the group, along with a lot of other items. There has even been a kind donation from Elaine Fox, a Tesco Community Champion, for the activity.
The dolls have always been a success within the home; Residents have taken to them as though they are their own and need caring for.
A few of the ladies take care of them every day by singing to them, talking to them and one lady used to take her babies for a walk in their buggy; she took them everywhere!
Residents loved seeing the new babies being brought in. One commented, “I love our new babies, always welcome. What a lovely thought!”
Anne Bannon, Care Home Manager, remarked, “A lovely donation from Dancing with Dementia, these mean a lot to us and the Residents’ wellbeing.”
