Home Manager of Ferndale Mews care home in Widnes, Peter McCarten, placed a request out on social media recently to ask if anyone would be kind enough to donate a caravan to the site so Residents would be able to enjoy some holiday reminiscence.
To Peter's surprise, one very kind individual offered their caravan as a donation to the home and the logistics of transporting it are now underway!
It is hoped that with a little bit of elbow grease, staff can make lots of use from it. Ideas were discussed such as a small resident café or visitors lodge, as well as decorative LED lights and a lick of HC-One branded colour paint. All in aid to make this a fantastic opportunity for Residents to enjoy the experience of being in a caravan again.
Ian and Chris from the Maintenance team and Artistic Domestics Michelle are really excited about the news of a renovation project that the residents will benefit greatly from.
Peter commented, “It’s amazing that someone is so kind to donate something to us that is going to be so useful to the Residents in our home. Residents seem overjoyed that the home will soon be having a caravan on site. They can’t wait to see it for themselves!”
