DoE student is a big hit with Residents at Redcar care homeHC-One’s Roseberry Court Care Home in Redcar, Cleveland, were thrilled to open the doors on Monday to a student who is aiming to complete his Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Mathew Richardson is completing his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and has kindly asked if he could come along and spend his time completing his award and entertain the Residents at Roseberry Court.

The Residents quickly took to Mathew and were soon requesting that he played Dominoes with them. They enjoyed chatting to him about their lives and were really interested when Mathew told them what he does with his spare time.

When it was time for Mathew to go everyone asked if he could stay longer and his face was a picture, he even blushed before reassuring everyone that he would be back next week for another teatime activity.

Residents really enjoyed spending time with someone from a different generation and helping Mathew to complete his DoE Award.

Eileen commented:

“Oh what a lovely boy and he’s pretty good at Dominoes for a young one.”

Alison Corner, Home Manager at Roseberry Court, commented:

“Mathew is such a lovely young man, who we have great pleasure in helping him complete his Duke of Edinburgh Award, and is a great hit with our Residents,”
