For the latest monthly ‘Stop the Clock’ event at HC-One’s residential, nursing and residential memory care home,
Market Lavington, the theme of ‘Holidays’ has gone down very well with everyone.
Residents at the Wiltshire based care home enjoyed creating holiday theme pictures, particularly of ice-creams and beaches and even took part in a reminiscence activity session; sharing stories about holidays they had been on as a child and then as an adult.
The memory of the British Rail posters of the 1950s arose and Wellbeing Coordinator, Riaz Ali, was able to print off copies of these which triggered more lovely memories and also inspired some art work. He commented, ““It was lovely hearing the stories of past holidays which Residents had been on, and the, sometimes hilarious, occurrences that had happened during those times.”
The home ended their lovely afternoon with a rousing rendition of ‘Summer Holiday’, the classic Cliff Richard song.
Residents loved being together and sharing their holiday memories and singing along to various songs. Angela Wakely, who lives at the home, remarked, “I like these events. It brings us all together.”
Fellow Resident Margaret Tomalin agreed, “It was fun.”
And Margaret Gutherson enjoyed sharing her stories, “Thank you for listening to my tall story!”
Leanne Vinakadina, Deputy Manager, ended with “I loved it, especially the singing! We should do that every day!”
