A comedy group has been set up at HC-One’s
Market Lavington residential, nursing and residential memory care home, in Wiltshire.
Today, Wellbeing Coordinator, Riaz Ali, and Kitchen Manager, Kim Tomes, ran a comedy group for the Residents at the home. But with a twist!
Many of the jokes were provided by the community of Market Lavington itself! On Friday evening, Riaz posted on a Facebook Community Board, letting the community know what was happening in the care home on Monday and asking for their contributions.
Many jokes were posted in reply and all were used! This was a fun, harmless and nicely silly way of attempting to involve the local community into the life of the HC-One home.
The group went down well with all of the Residents laughing!
Riaz commented, “We had many pun type jokes, many knock-knock jokes, and also some yarn jokes. A great way to relax on a cloudy and slightly windswept afternoon!”
Later this afternoon, Riaz will feedback to the Market Lavington community how well received their jokes were on the ‘groan-ometer’.
Residents who took part included Violet Lloyd, Angela Wakely, Margaret Tomalin, and Gordon Grist. They loved laughing at the silliness of the jokes, and sometimes groaning at how corny some of the puns were!
Violet said, “I love saucy limericks!”
Kim ended with, “It’s lovely to see them laugh and I always enjoy helping out in these groups!”
