Desert Island Discs at Inverness care homeResidents at HC-One’s Cradlehall care home in Inverness have their very own version of the radio programme Desert Island Discs broadcast on BBC Radio 4.

The team at Cradlehall have come up with their own version of Desert Island Discs, where a guest is invited to choose eight discs, a book and a luxury to take with them as they're castaway on a mythical desert island.

At Cradlehall, Residents can select their top 10 favourite songs to be their Desert Island Discs, every Wednesday a selection of the songs are played and the Resident who selected each song has the chance to explain why that song is special to them.

To make the experience even more enjoyable for the Residents, the home has bought an authentic reproduction of a 60’s style Dansette record player, the record player has proved to be a popular item for the Residents, Sheena commented that she had a similar one when she was 16 years old.

Family and friends have also contributed some records which can be added to the Desert Island Discs session each Wednesday, the sessions are now a highly anticipated activity each week where Residents like to share stories, reminisce and enjoy their favourite music.
