Dementia friends coffee morning at Hebburn care homeHC-One’s Hawthorn Court care home in Hebburn welcomed Paul Cuskin, Dementia Champion from Alzheimer’s Society to the home’s coffee morning to discover the ways that they can make a difference to the lives of people living with dementia.

Residents, team members, friends and family gathered at Hawthorn Court for a slice of homemade cake and a coffee as Paul delivered an informative and engaging discussion regarding dementia and how it affects people’s lives.

Afterwards, everyone shared their own experiences and chatted about what they had learned from Paul. Residents agreed that it’s important to reduce the stigma associated with the disease and create community environments that are welcoming for those living with dementia

Hawthorn Court Home Manager, Amanda Sleightholme said: “Thank you to Paul Cuskin for joining us for our coffee morning, we hope to welcome Paul back to Hawthorn Court in the future for more educating discussions surrounding dementia.”
