Couple celebrates platinum wedding anniversary at Stevenage care homeLove was in the air at HC-One’s Woodlands View care home in Stevenage earlier this month as Reg and Patricia Harris celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Reg and Patricia tied the knot on 8th March 1952 at The Paris Church of South Shore in Blackpool. They celebrated their milestone anniversary together in Woodlands View with their two beloved daughters, the team in the care home pulled out all the stops to help them celebrate their special day.

The couple were presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from the home along with a delicious homemade cake prepared by the kitchen team. Reg and Patricia were delighted with the effort everyone had made for their day, their daughters commented: “This is just amazing, you’ve all made their day very special.”

A special card was sent to Mr and Mrs Harris from Her Majesty the Queen to congratulate the pair, who also received a similar card from the Queen twenty years ago as they celebrated their golden anniversary.

When asked what their secret is for a long and happy marriage, Reg commented: “We had our ups and downs, but we stuck together because we love each other”.
Patricia also went on to say, “Love and happiness, I mean we have our ups and downs but we get out of them. You need to be understanding of each other”.
