Couple celebrates Diamond wedding anniversary at Warrington care homeVal and Eric Reid, celebrated 60 years of marriage together at HC-One’s Summerville care home in Warrington on 10th January 2019.

It was love at first sight for Val and Eric, the young couple were both twenty years old when they met in Jack Evans, a local stationary shop in Warrington. Two years later, they married at St Wilfred’s Church in Grappenhall surrounded by their nearest and dearest.

The happy couple went on to enjoy 60 years of wedded bliss together, they share two beloved children, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

To mark the very special occasion the team at Summerville gifted the couple with chocolates, flowers and special meal which they shared with Val’s fellow Residents at the home. Everyone congratulated the pair and wished them many more happy years to come. They also received a card the Queen, which was a special moment for both Eric and Val.

Val is a Resident at Summerville, with Eric visiting his beloved wife every day, they often take part in activities together in the home, with bingo being one of their favourites. The church in which the couple wed all those years ago has strong links with the home and hosts a service for Residents every month.

When asked what their secret to a long and happy marriage is, Mr and Mrs Reid agreed it’s to have no secrets from each other.

Iqbal Sidhu, Home Manager at Summerville said:

“It was a pleasure to celebrate Val and Eric’s anniversary with them, the love they share for each other is truly heart-warming.

“Everyone at Summerville wishes the couple many more happy years to come.”
