Couple celebrates 60 years of marriage at Dunstable care homeMr Roger Edmonds and Mrs Sylvia Edmonds, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday 17th November with loved ones at HC-One’s Ridgeway Lodge care home in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.

Roger, a Resident at Ridgeway Lodge, met his wife Sylvia when he was 16 years old and she was 14. The pair became close and married in 1958 at Burnt Oak Registry Office, the newlyweds spent their honeymoon at Roger Aunt’s Guest House in Clacton.

Sylvia worked for Public Health, the Department of Health Social and Security and as a homemaker, while Roger was a Master Builder with a keen interest in guitars. The couple are blessed with three wonderful daughters, Christine, Julie and Valerie, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

To celebrate their everlasting love, Ridgeway Lodge organised a special anniversary party in honour of the happy couple. Friends and family came together to celebrate with Sylvia and Roger, it was a great day for all. After the party, Sylvia commented that it was wonderful to her husband smiling and surrounded by loved ones.
When asked what their secret to a long and happy marriage is, the couple said a devoted family with loving children.
