One Resident is celebrating his remarkable 105th birthday with his family and friends at HC-One’s Eden House care home in Bishop Auckland.
John had a lovely visit from his family in the home’s new visiting pod where he opened lots of beautiful gifts, his very special card from the Queen and showed off his balloons from the local MP and Bishop Auckland Town Council.
After a lovely lunch, John enjoyed a Zoom call with Bishop Aucklands Town Mayor where she wished him a very happy birthday and spent some time getting to know all about John and his remarkable life.
John then spent his afternoon snacking on his delicious chocolate birthday cake, made by Eden House’s kitchen Colleagues, and watching a special live virtual performance with his friends at the home.
John’s family had arranged for a George Formby tribute act to perform via Zoom which everyone at the home enjoyed as they gathered to watch the entertainment in the lounge. John’s family even joined in with the call to watch the show from their own homes.
A Resident at the home commented: “It was lovely for everyone to share John’s day with him. It feels very normal to see everyone enjoying themselves in these strange times.”
After an incredible live performance, everyone sang happy birthday to John before settling down with a traditional tea party, the perfect way to finish a day of celebrations for John’s 105th birthday.
Colin, the incredible George Formby tribute act, said: “How lovely it is to see everyone having a good time and enjoying themselves.”
