Coq au Vin and croissants on the menu as Hexham care home celebrate Bastille DayResidents at HC-Ones Acomb Court care home in Hexham celebrated Bastille Day on 16th July, after a Resident put the idea forward to Colleagues.

To celebrate Bastille Day, Acomb Court had a French themed day after Resident Francoise Kilby, who was born in Paris, suggested the idea.

Francoise took the reins and organised for Residents to enjoy some lovely croissants for breakfast followed by a French arts and crafts session so Residents could help decorate the home for the day.

Mary Stewart, a Resident at Acomb Court said "It’s like being in France at home.”

Francoise enjoyed sharing her culture with other Residents just as much as the Residents loved experiencing French culture and food. For dinner, was Coq au Vin and French wine and later in the afternoon, Residents enjoyed a cheese and wine session with French music and games.

Dorothy McIntyre said: “What an enjoyable afternoon.”

Colleagues have now decided that they are going to go to different destinations around the world every week during lockdown and the Residents are really looking forward to it.

Michelle Jones, Acomb Court Home Manager said: "It’s lovely to see everyone enjoying the different wine and cheeses and having a good time.”
