Congratulations to the Nursing Associate Graduates at Wigan care homeOn 12th August, HC-One’s Carrington Court care home, in Hindley, Wigan, celebrated the graduation of their first Registered Nursing Associates trained as part of the continuous development programmes on offer at HC-One.

HC-One offer nursing apprenticeships, with a view of developing staff from carers to registered nurses. The Nursing Associate Apprenticeship is a means of training to become a graduate registered nurse or nursing associate through an apprenticeship route for people expressing a desire to complete the Registered Nurse Degree top up programme and progress in their careers. It offers flexibility and enables people to work at the same time. This provides the apprentice with the same standards as other traditional student nurses.

Deputy Manager Amie Kirwan, Registered Nursing Associate Anna Meredith and Unit Manager Clare Donnelly, who are all colleagues at the nursing care home, were celebrating after they completed a 2-year foundation degree apprenticeship with the University of Salford.

To mark the career milestone, colleagues were presented with gifts and flowers from Home Manager at Carrington Court, Rebecca Asprey and Area Director, Anthony Byrne.

Staff and residents in the home and from the Clinical and Practice Development team at HC-One joined in the celebration with a buffet and all-important cake. One resident even helped with the task of blowing up the balloons for the event.

Lizzy Hutton, Senior Nurse - Clinical and Practice Development Specialist, commented:
“Through university and practice placements our colleagues have brought a wealth of knowledge back to Carrington Court, becoming skilled clinical regulated practitioners.
“I would like to extend a huge ‘congratulations’ to Amie, Anna and Clare.”
