Community joins 100th birthday celebrations for Dukinfield care home ResidentThe Beeches care home in Dukinfield, Tameside helped organise a party fit for a queen as Resident Catherine turned 100 years young.

As the care home has a great relationship with the local Cromwell High School, Catherine was invited, along with fellow Residents Gladys and Freda, for a fun-filled party at the school with students and teachers.

Students at the school made every effort to ensure Catherine had a special day, as they dressed the hall with rainbow-themed decorations to reflect the centenarian’s favourite song: Somewhere over the rainbow.

The school also put on a delicious buffet and gave Catherine handmade cards for her to open, before the whole school came together to sing Happy Birthday.

Catherine said: “Thank you for a lovely morning. The school went to so much effort to make my birthday so special.”

Gladys added: “It’s been a lovely morning, everyone has gone to so much effort to make it nice for Catherine.”

Sade Smith, Wellbeing Coordinator at The Beeches, said: “We have good links with Cromwell High School and we always look forward to them visiting our home to do activities with Residents each week.

“For the school to organise Catherine such a special birthday party was a really kind gesture and we all had such a lovely morning celebrating her birthday.”
