Colleague kindness is celebrated at Swallownest care homeSwallownest care home in Sheffield was delighted to present a Kindness in Care award to Wellbeing Coordinator Dawn Spafford, who was recognised for her commitment to promoting Resident wellbeing in the home.

The Kindness in Care Awards programme was launched by HC-One, a leading provider in health and social care, in October 2013.  It recognises the efforts of their kindest colleagues, and the impact they have on the lives of Residents and their loved ones.

Month on month, record breaking numbers of awards are presented to colleagues, volunteers, and whole teams within the family of homes that HC-One operates across the UK.

Dawn was nominated for a kindness in care award by a number of Residents and Relatives due to her hard working in ensuring everyone living at the home has a wealth of varied activities to take part in throughout the year.

From Bollywood dancing and pamper sessions to animal therapy sessions and tea parties with the local mayor, Dawn ensures that there is never a dull day for Residents living at Swallownest.

Resident Peggy said: “I love the pub lunch that Dawn takes us to in the minibus.”

Amanda Fields, Home Manager at Swallownest, said: “I am so pleased that Dawn’s passion and kindness has been recognised with this award. She always goes the extra mile for everyone, and this award is the best way to honour everything she does for the whole community at Swallownest.

“Dawn always takes the time to get to know each Resident and their families on an individual basis, and as a result organises activities that she knows they will love.”
