Residents at Willow Brook care home in Carlton, Nottingham were delighted to welcome in the Year of the Rat as they celebrated Chinese New Year 2020.
To kick off the celebrations, Residents learned about the Chinese zodiac as they were each given a red envelope containing a card showing the animal representing the year they were born.
The celebrations commenced with a taster session of Chinese foods, which included a variety of savoury snacks, with many Residents sampling foods that they had never tried before.
Residents also enjoyed watching Chinese films and playing board games.
As Chinese New Year took place on the same day as Burns Night, a Scottish celebration in honour of famous poet Robert Burns, Residents also enjoyed taking part in Scottish arts and crafts and reading poetry together.
One Resident commented: “I really enjoyed tasting the Chinese food, it was lovely.”
